Planning – The Key To Successful Dieting
Unreached dieting goals can be traced back to one limiting factor- not planning. Given that we all know that eating too much food packs on the pounds, the solution to the problem seems obvious: eat less. So as oppose to planning to eat less, many of you just simply try to implement this principal without much forethought. When you don’t get the results that you were expecting, you wonder what went wrong. Frustrated, you give up.
All this frustration, and wasted time and effort could have been avoided if you had spent a little time planning. To quote Proverbs, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.”, and it is this one simple overlooked, but none the less, most important concept that many dieters forgo.
In fact, planning, as a general concept, is so important that an organization has been founded to address the issue, the National Association of Professional Organizers. The purpose of professional organizers is to help businesses and individuals to better plan and organize. Given that resources, such as this, is devoted to the area of planning, it is only reasonable to assume the importance role planning can have in your own life and endeavors.
Elements of a Diet Plan
To help start you on your way to planning a slimmer you, here are some elements to include in your diet plan to get you underway.
Remove junk food from your home
It’s easier to say no to certain foods when they are not around. So go to your kitchen and throw out or give away all those foods that are adding unwanted calories to your waist. Don’t forget the morsels tucked away in your desk drawers, and in the glove compartment of your car.
Decide on what your going to eat
Knowing what you are going to eat beforehand helps to keep you focus on eating right. Decide on the foods that you want in your meals and make sure to choose a wide variety to keep it from becoming boring.
Make a list of foods to buy
After deciding on your meals, you need to make a list of the foods needed to prepare and cook the meals. Don’t rely on your memory. Write it down and stick to buying what is on the list.
Cook for several days
One reason for the success of some commercial diets is that the meals that you eat are prepared for you and they supply you with enough to last several days, or even a week or more. By preparing enough food to last for several days, you can mimic this practice without the cost.
Follow your plan
No matter how great your plan is, if you don’t follow it, it’s just words on paper, or maybe a computer screen. If you later find certain aspects of your plan needs to be adjusted, cool. Nothing is set in stone. The important thing, is to perform the actions that you set out to do.
