Speeding up your Metabolism – Three Simple Tips
Speeding up your metabolism is the key to burning off those unwanted inches. Of course, as we start to look more like our parents, our metabolism slows down. However, just because our maturing in years has slowed it down, doesn’t mean you can’t speed it back up.
To get it back in gear, here are some tips that you can start today.
Eat six small meals a day.
By eating six meals a day, you’re forcing your body to burn more energy throughout the day. With each meal you eat, you have to burn a certain amount of calories to complete the digestion process. Eating periodically in this manner forces your metabolism to work longer and harder, which results in a faster metabolism.
A good analogy is to think of your metabolism as a jogger. If you jog everyday, you can run faster and longer than someone who doesn’t. By eating six meals a day, you’re training it to run faster, which results in a faster metabolism.
Eat complex carbohydrates.
Much of the food we consume comes in the form of convenient carbohydrates such as chips, cookies, or white breads. These are simple carbohydrates and are quickly process by the body to be used as either energy or stored away as fat.
However, when we consume foods such as broccoli, whole grain breads, beans or spinach we are consuming complex carbohydrates. Because of the high fiber in these foods, your body has to expend more energy to digest them before they can be used as energy.
Go for a brisk walk.
As you know, every movement we take requires our body to metabolize energy to carry out the movement. By going for a brisk walk, our body’s metabolism has to work faster to keep up with the energy supply necessary to sustain this movement. By increasing this metabolic process, you’re speeding up your metabolism and helping your body to burn fat.
In short, by performing these tips everyday, you’ll be well on your way to speeding up your metabolism and burning more fat. And always remember that fat burning is a journey, not a destination. As you travel, make sure that you pick up as much information as possible to make this journey go by quickly and efficiently.
