Burning Fat – Fat is Never Burned (True)
Are you like me in this boat of trying to lose weight and all you do is go back and forth like waves bobbing you around? My friends thought I was crazy. They never said it, but I could tell by the way they looked at me. I kept telling them that I’ve tried just about every pill out there. Some control your cortisol levels. Others claim to suppress your appetite because it worked for some Bushmen in Africa blah, blah, blah… Others promise to melt the fat off. Another camp is to cut your calories and do 40 minutes of aerobic activity. This one just helped put weight on (I later found out why); by now I was beginning to believe my friends, but I knew something must be wrong with me.
Well, the reason for this article is to let all who read it and have lost hope that I finally found something that worked. It’s something I discovered through a seminar that a Chiropractor/Nutritionist was advertising on a local radio station where I live. No it was not about getting adjusted. By the way Fat is not burned it is eliminated through your urine. Fat is really stored energy, and when the body realizes that you no longer need to store that extra energy it automatically eliminates it. This is why drinking lots of water is good for you.
In this seminar I discovered that it wasn’t about exercise or dieting (How else do you explain the people that can eat a horse and still look like a toothpick). It was based on a simple philosophy developed by another Chiropractor/Nutritionists out of West Virginia. Out of working with thousands of his patients with a 99% success rate he decided to train other Nutritionist to do the same. This is where my Nutritionist comes in. I applied everything he prescribed for me and lord and behold I lost over 26lbs within two months. I also found out I wasn’t crazy, I was right!!
Here are the top five things I learned:
1. Fat is really just stored energy. It is there because the body thinks that your are in a survival mode. What causes this survival mode? Stress is one of the biggest cause of this. If you reduce your stress than this signals the body that it no longer needs to store all of that fat.
2. Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. This is really the time that the body eliminates fat. It uses it to do the healing process. This is the time that the body does the repair process after a heavy workout. It is also one of the reasons when your sick that you sleep a lot. You need to be getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night; sound sleep.
3. Losing weight is not about calories, it is really about hormonal balance within your body. All the years of bad eating and diet drinks and pumping your body up with artificial this and that can make your body store a lot of fat.
This hormonal imbalance can cause you to become one of four body types. You have liver, adrenal, thyroid, and ovarian body types. The liver body type tends to store more water than fat and this is done around the belly. You have seen this type, they look like they are pregnant because the belly is sticking straight out; refer to sometimes as the beer belly. this is because all of the alcohol that’s consumed has put the liver in stress mode and this is how the liver reacts when stressed or damaged.
The Adrenal body type also stores the fat around the belly, but now it is more of a sagging belly, the type the drools over the belt.
The Thyroid body type stores fat all around. They will store it around the waist, thighs, arms, etc..
The Ovarian (seen only in women) store the fat around their hips; sometimes referred to as the pear shape.
These body types can all be treated and often require different types of exercise, or none at all during the healing process. For example the adrenal type can only do light walking because the reason that the adrenals are not working properly is because of too much stress. So adding exercise on top of that is just causing more stress to the body and therefore this type will often put on weight when they exercise rather than lose weight. All of the stress causes the adrenals to produce more cortisol hormone which is a fat making hormone. The stress can get to a point where the adrenals fatigue and they no longer produce enough cortisol and this person is dragging throughout the day. They also find it difficult to get up in the morning and need 3 cups of coffee to get going.
4. Nutrition is really the key. All the cravings that you have is really due to your body not getting the micronutrients it needs and therefore it keeps a constant hunger; even after you had a full meal. If your not eating enough vegetables and fruits throughout the day then your body will have all of these cravings; specially for sugar. Most often you will crash late at night and you start stuffing yourself right before you go to bed.
5. Blood test don’t always reveal all of the facts about your hormonal imbalance. Saliva test is really one of the best test for this. If your doctor is not doing this type of test than he/she is missing a lot of data about your hormonal imbalance.
