Belly Fat – Making an Immediate Impact
Belly fat is an unfortunate side effect of a prosperous society in addition to bad eating habits. Ridding yourself of it is not an overnight process, but there are things that you can do immediately to bring it down and start you on your way to a more permanent solution.
Perform Situps
To have an immediate effect on your mid section, perform situps. Even though this will not burn fat around your belly, it will strengthen the abs muscles allowing you to look thinner by holding in your belly fat better.
Perform Heart Pounding Exercises
Unfortunately, there are no “spot” exercises that you can do to target the loss of just belly fat. Our bodies just don’t work that way. One good thing about losing fat though is that the majority of the fat that you first start to lose does come from your belly. To successfully lose belly fat and fat in general you need to participate in heart pounding activities such as aerobics, jogging, cycling, swimming or strenuous yard work.
Cut out Soft Drinks
Another important step that you can take right now is to stop drinking soft drinks (euphemistically called liquid candy) or at least try to limit the amount you drink to no more than 12 ounces a day. Many nutritionists attribute this as the number one cause of obesity because not only does soft drinks contain empty calories, they also contribute to overeating.
Replace Processed Foods
Another immediate step to take is to cut out and replace processed foods such as potato chips, cookies, and white breads from your diet. Replace them with whole grain chips, grains and fruits such as apples and cantaloupes. Remember to eat these in moderation as well. It’s how much you eat as well as what you eat that contributes to your belly fat.
