Weight Loss: Who’s Your Body Idol?
Motivation plays a big part in weight loss. So having a body idol as inspiration can help to encourage you over the rough spots in your program. This is because images have been shown to have stronger psychological effects than just words alone.
For many of you who already have and idol, it’s probably some celebrity or some well known athlete, but it doesn’t have to be. It could be someone in your family or someone who workouts at your gym. Regardless of who they are, for a quick motivational boost, periodically remind yourself of the body you are trying to obtain.
And if you don’t have an idol, consider getting one. Good health aside, vanity can be a strong motivator as well. After all, who wouldn’t want to walk down the street and see the admiration in the eyes of others. And if by simply having a body idol gets you there, what’s wrong with that?
In fact, just looking at someone whose body you can aspire too, may be just the reminder you need to keep marching towards your goal. Weight loss is more that just exercise and eating right. It is also about feeling good during the process and anything that brings that about should be greeted with open arms.
If you do have a body idol and you have a picture of her or him, do you look at it occasionally during the day? If you don’t, then start doing it. And if you don’t have a picture, get one. However, I advise against randomly taking a picture of a person you barely know. You don’t want to be accused of stalking. You can still keep them in mind, just find a picture of a body type you admire in a magazine or on the net.
For even a more greater motivational punch, take a shot of your head and place it on your idol’s body. Just seeing your head on a physique you admire can do wonders to your self esteem. I wouldn’t be surprise if just the thought alone is bringing a smile to your face!
After all, seeing is believing and what better way to believe than by seeing your face on the body of your dreams. Talk about motivation!
