Omega 3 And Weight Loss
Who would have ever thought that an oil, in this case omega 3, could contribute to weight loss. If you’re like most people, you probaly think that even the “good” oils make you fat. Research, however, says different.
A study conducted by researchers in the Czech Republic found that omega 3 reduced the accumulation of body fat by limiting the size and the proliferation of fat cells. In the study mice were fed either omega-3 fatty acid and a high fat diet or just a high fat diet alone. The mice that were a fed high fat diet with the omega 3 showed a lower gain in body weight.
What this suggests is that by eating a healthy diet and adding omega 3 to it, your body could experience weight loss at a more rapid pace- and who wouldn’t want to lose fat faster.
You can find omega 3 in fish. Fish that have a high amount of this fatty acid are salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies and sardines. Fish, such as tuna contains omega 3, but in a lesser amount.
To find the highest amount of omega 3, you should try Flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil is up to six times richer in omega 3 than fish oils. You can find it in health food stores or upscale grocers in the refrigerated section of the aisle.
In short, omega 3 has been shown to be an effective means for weight loss. By adding it to your diet, you can reduce the accumulation of fat on your body and speed up your fat loss.
