Obesity
Obesity – What Causes It?
Obesity is caused by many factors, but primarily it is the result of our depleted soils, chemical agriculture methods, fast foods and processed foods which are designed to create an insatiable craving to eat too much. Our medical system facilitates obesity, which is more profitable than “curing” it.
* Our vegetables on average contain less than a quarter of the nutrients they contained 80 years ago. Without the mineral building blocks to build and repair our cells, one could argue these are counterfeit produce. Farmers, driven by economic forces, aren’t replacing the nutrients that have been used up by their unsustainable industrial farming practices. As a result, we may be eating more to make up for the diminished level of nutrients in the crops.
* Our packaged foods are engineered to make us crave more of the sugars, fat, and salt they contain; the healthy nutrients have been refined out of them. You could say they are an illusionary source of food.
* Our medical care system expends more effort to sell us drugs to permit us to go on abusing our bodies with disease-inducing foods(e.g.: we could change our diet and lower our cholesterol for free, but instead doctors send us off with a prescription for statin drugs). We are sold an illusion of apparent health, rather than getting the stern warning to change our ways we deserve.
* Our USDA and FDA watchdogs welcome food industry consultants and executives to sit on the policy panels that decide what a safe and healthy diet shall be: How is THAT for an illusion? “Our food is safe and nutritious because we say it is!”
Our lazy, sedentary lifestyle plays a part which is important, but is secondary to the type of foods we habitually consume.
A campaign to end obesity would upset the profit machines of too many established U.S. industries. To reverse obesity requires the individual to break the addiction to processed foods, and to learn to eat real nature-made foods. Looked at from a business perspective, helping a person end their bad habits that caused the obesity is not nearly as profitable, so few doctors are offering this help.
Most mainstream medical doctors and nutritionists have been brainwashed by the same major meat, dairy, and packaged foods producers, so they are not objective sources of enlightened diet information. Most doctors are outlived by the average American, which makes us wonder how much they know about commonsense health practices.
Most mainstream writers will not tell the truth about the web of lies that perpetuates obesity and profits off it. Too many powerful industries would be offended. A writer could get sued, as Oprah and one of her guests were when the presented unfavorable information concerning the safety and cleanliness of U.S. mass-produced beef.
It is much safer to avoid offending the Sacred Cows
The illusion that we have a safe and healthy food supply is exposed by the extreme cases of obesity that result from susceptible individuals falling into a whirlpool of addiction created by the plans for maximizing profit for the processed food industry. This is capitalism without a conscience in action.
Many people, agencies, and industries have a vested interest in maintaining the lie that the way Americans are taught to eat and the foodstuffs we eat are right and proper. It is a self-organizing, unspoken conspiracy, when looked at objectively. It is in the self-interest of too many powerful agencies and corporations to maintain a food system that is producing a growing trend toward obesity and disease for 68% of our U.S. population.
There is simply too much money being made for the players involved to change their ways. And don’t expect federal regulators, who are in bed with wealthy industrialists, to make them change. The surest solution is for the individual to find the truth of what is a healthy diet and to get themselves free from the Matrix-like world of Illusion.
